A Crown to Make!

A crown on your head feels just right, doesn't it?

Sometimes, in this world, crowns can be hard to come by.
So, here's a crown you can make yourself from paper!

Print the image below. (Click on the image to open a PDF to print.)
Printing on card stock will make it last much longer.

Decorate your crown however you'd like. Use crayons,

colored pencil,

markers, or anything else you might have!

We had brothers with us, so they colored with colors they thought Princely and masculine,
like steel gray!

Your Mom can make one, too!

When your crown is colored to your liking, cut it out

and try it on your  head

Clip where the dotted line is on the front of the crown

clip a little way down between the first and second scallop on the back piece

Place the ends of both pieces together with the decorated sides facing the same direction

Slide the slit in the front of the crown over the slit in the back piece.
The tabs go to the back.

make the crown into a circle and slide the other two ends together. Make sure the tabs are on the inside of the crown.

Try the crown on. Is is the right size? If so, great! if not, that's what the scallops are for.

You can make the crown smaller by making a slit farther along the back piece

 Then put  it on again.

When the crown is the right size, tape the tabs on the inside of the crown.

and wear it!

while you climb

and tumble, and go about your day.

Then make more!

And more!

Dance among the Stars

There is so much beauty and joy to see and experience!

Sometimes life turns out differently than we expected. The funny thing is, that when it does, if  we have the courage to look up, there will be something spectacular!

Names and Magic

My sister and I played princesses a lot.
We had princess names. She was Princess Pussywillow, and I was Princess Apple Blossom.
We chose flower names because flowers are beautiful, and fitting for a princess.

She was Pussywillow because she loved cats.

I chose Apple Blossom because it was my Mother’s favorite flower.

We had many grand adventures. We even made a book to record these adventures, but alas, our adventures were so vast and wonderful, that we could never get them into the book.

Recently that book turned up, still blank and ready to be filled in with grand adventures. Perhaps someday we’ll be able to capture those stories and share them.

When I grew a bit older, I started calling myself Princess Vivian. That name I still use often when I’m playing.
One of my daughters loves to use the name Sally. We like to play a game we call “Sally and Vivian” Sally makes all of the rules for this game, and it’s different every time.

Here is a picture of me, Princess Vivian, flying up with the magic of my imagination to pick stars for this piece of fabric. Then I will make a fabulous dress with it!

What princess names do you like? Do you have a favorite that you already like to use?

We will soon be making our new website, where there will be places for kids to respond and post things. On this site, for safety reasons, we don’t want any children to post their most real names that their parents gave them. They can use a play name instead. A princess name. So start thinking about what princess name you would like to use.

The Last of the Dragons: A fabulous Story

This story is almost a hundred years old.
My Mother read it to me when I was little, and her mother read it to her! Now my children like to hear it, and I want to share it with you.

If I sent you to find it you probably would have a hard time of it because it hasn't been published in such a long time. So, I put the whole thing here for you to read:

Take the Step

I wish I knew who to credit this quote to. I owe them a big thank-you.

This is a scary thing for me to do, starting this blog.

What if I say something embarrassing? Anyone might see it!

On the other hand, it's very exciting. What if I say something helpful? Anyone might see it!

So, one step at a time, as with anything new. Just keep going. Baby steps are just fine. Nothing will change if I don't change, but if I choose to try something new, anything is possible!

Princess and Bunnies coloring page

Have you ever held a bunny?

They are so soft! They are delicate, fragile creatures, so you must be very gentle with them.

This little princess is very gentle as she holds these baby bunnies. Their little claws are a little bit pokie, so she is patient, too.

They love to be held. They like the way she softly pets them and talks quietly to them.

When she picks up the bunnies, she makes sure their feet are under them so they won't get scared.
